The problem we couldn't ignore

In 2023, our founders noticed something troubling: the biggest accounting software companies in the world were charging R700 to R2,000 per month for tools that assumed you always had reliable WiFi, a modern laptop, and a degree in accounting.

Meanwhile, millions of South African entrepreneurs — spaza shop owners, plumbers, hair salon owners, construction contractors, street vendors — were running their entire businesses in dog-eared notebooks or broken Excel spreadsheets.

These business owners were smart. They were hardworking. They were building real things. But the tools available to them were either unaffordable, too complex, or simply not built for South African realities: load shedding, unreliable data connections, cash-dominant economies, B-BBEE requirements, and the complexity of dealing with SARS.
